Governance scheme

The governance framework of FORESTT has been designed with a broad integration of the French scientific community in mind, across the various thematic fields of the PEPR, aiming to:

  • Foster consultation on the strategic and budgetary orientations of the PEPR, as well as the links between program strategy and the strategies of partner institutions;
  • Promote scientific excellence in projects and dissemination of results by bringing research teams closer to expert advice, both nationally and internationally, and involving stakeholders from the industry and society;
  • Enable agile and responsive decision-making on the more technical and operational aspects of the program, while leveraging existing mechanisms within partner institutions.

The operational core of the governance consists of an executive committee (COMEX) and a scientific council (CS), supported by the INRAE PEPR Support Unit (US). Decisions regarding the strategic orientations of the program are made by the Inter-Institutional Committee (C2I). Finally, this framework is complemented by an advisory committee, the Stakeholder Committee (CPP).

INRAE serves as the coordinating institution for the program, responsible for its smooth operation. It acts as the main point of contact for ANR regarding cross-cutting issues and the formalization of the governance contract, and serves as the primary contact for the government regarding general matters related to the PEPR.

CIRAD and CNRS are closely involved in the governance of the PEPR, with representatives sitting on the executive committee.

The Inter-Institutional Committee, responsible for decisions related to the strategic orientations of the program, includes 10 partner organizations of the PEPR: INRAE, CIRAD, CNRS, University of Montpellier, IGN, IRD, AgroParisTech, University of Lorraine, ONF, and CPNF.
