Program architecture

To address its 4 scientific challenges, the FORESTT program relies on two main funding instruments :

  • Five targeted projects, predefined in advance, aimed at structuring and strengthening the national scientific community around priorities aligned with the overall objectives of the PEPR (budget €23 million).
  • Collaborative projects, focusing on scientific themes complementary to those of the targeted projects, through a call for proposals that will be opened in early 2025 (budget €12 million).

The governance project of the FORESTT program will also ensure the scientific and technical coordination of the PEPR (budget €5 million), with the implementation of cross-cutting actions, including :

  • Governance coordination;
  • Implementation of scientific activities promoting the emergence of multidisciplinary, structuring, and complementary consortia;
  • Networking of program scientific communities to mobilize them around FORESTT priorities, stimulate research activity, and enable wide dissemination of research results;
  • Dedicated resources for international mobility to facilitate the integration of French researchers into the international community, dissemination of our tools and models, training, and mastery of tools developed abroad;
  • Internal and external communication actions to facilitate knowledge transfer and raise awareness of forest resilience issues;
  • Support for open science by ensuring accessibility of results and underlying data;
  • Facilitation of links between policymakers and stakeholders, as well as support for pre-maturation projects, to enable research developed within the projects to lead to innovative solutions and transformative changes;
  • Consideration of social and environmental responsibility criteria in the implementation of program actions.

The FORESTT program will be progressively deployed between 2023 and 2030, following the following major steps :
